Dr. C. Eric Wooten is a nationally recognized, board-certified radiation oncologist located in Florence, SC. His practice is part of the Medical University of South Carolina. In addition to having an excellent bedside manner, Dr. Wooten is committed to bringing the most advanced oncology treatments to his patients. He has authored several publications and been asked to give lectures and presentations at some of the most prestigious oncology conferences in the United States. He has also been a recipient of multiple national accolades for his innovative research discoveries.Dr. Wooten completed a surgical internship at the University of Kentucky where he specialized in surgical oncology. During his radiation oncology residency he distinguished himself nationally with his research achievements. His research discoveries were selected for multiple prestigious awards and invited speaking opportunities. Dr. Wooten consistently scored in the top 10% on training examinations while maintaining a busy clinical practice and conducting several high impact research opportunities. Dr. Wooten was selected by faculty to serve as chief resident his final year of training. His training covered general radiation oncology but also focused in highly specialized radiation delivery techniques including brachytherapy procedures and advanced linear accelerator techniques. In addition, Dr. Wooten has extensive experience treating gynecological malignancies such as cervix and endometrial cancer having trained under Dr. Marcus Randall.Before moving onto his current position, Dr. Wooten briefly pursued an opportunity in Columbia, SC with South Carolina Oncology Associates following residency. During this time he became board certified and certified for intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery. Due to his exceptional services, he was selected to become Cancer Conference Coordinator for Integrated Network Cancer Committee, to serve on the Breast Health Advisory Committee and selected as President of Radiation Oncology LLC.Dr. Wooten now serves as Medical Director of Radiation Oncology and Radiation Safety Officer for MUSC Florence. He also has an affiliation with the VA and is extremely proud to serve our Veterans. He is faculty at MUSC and enjoys his role as an educator. He will be serving as a primary clinical investigator for cancer research. He also serves on Medical Executive Committee for MUSC - Florence Hospital. Dr. Wooten works as part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team along with medical oncology, surgery, pathology, and radiology. His practice provides treatment for all cancer types. Dr. Wooten was the first in the region to offer hydrogel spacers for prostate cancer and heart sparing breast radiation with SGRT. Dr. Wooten and his team are passionate about bringing state-of-the-art treatment to Florence, SC.
